Help with Pebbles

Pebbles, formerly known as Sip, works locally without requiring an account. Find help with journal entries, device storage, sharing, widgets, Apple Watch, and privacy.

Visual journal

Creating an entry

  1. Add a photo. Take a new photo with the camera or choose an image through Photos.
  2. Frame the subject. Isolate the object from the photo, or crop it manually when you want more control.
  3. Add the details. Enter a title and, if you like, an optional caption.
  4. Save the entry. It will appear in the Day you are viewing.

Restore camera or photo access

If you previously denied access, open iPhone Settings, choose Apps, choose Pebbles, and enable Camera or adjust Photos access. You can also review these permissions under Settings → Privacy & Security. Return to Pebbles after changing the setting and try adding the photo again.

No sign-in needed

Use Pebbles locally without an account

You do not need to register, sign in, or stay connected to the internet to create and keep your journal on your device. Pebbles does not create a server-side profile or server-side drink history.

On your devices

Local storage and backups

Journal entries, preferences, and personalized images are stored locally. Widgets use the same protected local app-group data, and the Apple Watch companion receives a device-to-device copy through Apple's WatchConnectivity service.

  • Removing an entry or personalized image removes the relevant local copy according to the controls available in Pebbles.
  • Depending on your Apple device and backup settings, local Pebbles data may also be included in a device backup managed by Apple.
  • Removing Pebbles can remove data that exists only on that device. Review your Apple backup settings before reinstalling if you want to preserve a device backup.

Share a moment

Sharing

When you choose to share, Pebbles presents Apple's system share sheet. You choose the destination and recipient. A shared image is a separate copy handled by the app or service you select.

Some Pebbles and earlier Sip releases can also open shared links under the /p/path. These links can open the matching content in a compatible installed version of the app. An account is not required for the app's local journal features.

Companion experiences

Widgets and Apple Watch

Widgets show today's entries and can open Pebbles' add flow. Widgets and the Apple Watch companion use the iPhone's protected local state; they do not need a Pebbles account.

If widget or Watch content looks stale, open Pebbles on the paired iPhone and allow device synchronization to finish, then return to the widget or Watch.

Privacy

How Pebbles handles your information

Pebbles keeps journal data and personalizations on your devices and does not use them for advertising, analytics, or cross-service tracking.

See the Privacy Policy for details about local storage, sharing, website information, support communications, retention, and deletion.
